School Council

Here at Stanwick Academy, we believe it is very important for ALL children to have a voice and feel as though their views and opinions count.

In the Autumn Term, each class from Year 1 to Year 6 holds an election to find their class representatives for our School Council. Each councillor has to ensure that the views of all of the children in their class are heard. We meet regularly, led by our Head Boy and Head Girl, to discuss and make decisions about how we can improve our school. It is a great opportunity to help build confidence, to gain understanding of what responsibility means and for us to achieve great things!

Our main aims are:

  • To make sure that our school is a safe and happy place for everyone
  • To make sure that children have a place to voice their concerns
  • To encourage all children in the school to suggest improvements
  • To make sure any suggestions or concerns are listened to and acted upon

What does the School Council do?

It takes part in lots of activities including:

  • Listening to the views and concerns of other pupils
  • Representing these concerns to teachers and other adults
  • Coming up with ideas to help improve the school and make decisions
  • Fundraising for our school and charities
